Watershed High School

Watershed High School
This Minneapolis Waldorf School created a class called Environmental Philosophy that met weekly to learn about waste issues, develop waste reduction strategies for the school, and educate families. The class created recycling and composting systems for the school, and studied toxicity reduction and created non toxic cleaning supplies. 200 families were educated about the issues through a series of newsletter articles and a special four-color newsletter. The students also presented a workshop at the Living Green Expo and had information on their project at a booth at the Expo. Through various outreach efforts, 630 people were educated about the waste issues addressed at the high school. The school has changed its practices because of this project and incorporated environmental stewardship into its new Vision Statement.
