Neighbors, Inc.
Neighbors, Inc. distributed information on a range of waste and toxicity reduction topics through several methods. Small inserts were placed in the shopping bags of 500 visitors to their food shelf and clothes closet each month, focused on eight different waste reduction topics during the year. Volunteers who drive seniors to appointments and make friendly visitor phone calls to homebound seniors were trained on toxicity reduction and junk mail issues and shared this information with the people they contact, reaching 376 people. Articles on waste issues appeared in two issues of the Neighbors newsletter, circulated to 4,000 people. 50 people contacted Neighbors in response to the junk mail article in order to receive a junk mail postcard.
