East African Women's Group
Thirty-five Somali women participated in a ten-hour intensive train-the-trainer session where they learned about recycling, packaging reduction, household hazardous waste and non-toxic alternatives. These women in turn provided training to over 300 women in their homes, primarily in the Riverside Plaza Complex in Minneapolis. They demonstrated alternative cleaners and taught them label reading for toxic products. A cable TV show on waste and toxicity reduction was produced and was aired on the Somali TV Show and the Oromo TV Show.
