Motor Oil, Automotive Fluids, Lubricating and Industrial Process Oils Minnesota Statutes §115A.916 prohibits the disposal of motor oil on land, in the sewer system, or with solid waste. Improper disposal of oil and other automotive lubricants can harm vegetation and pollute water supplies. The prohibition also includes brake fluid, power steering fluid and transmission fluid.
For disposal of small quantities of automobile oils and fluids, contact your local retailer to locate management options. See Recycling and Disposal Sites for businesses that transport waste oil and other fluids.
When hiring a transporter, ensure that the company has an EPA identification number and will take your oil to a proper handling facility.
Search for recycling and disposal facilities near you.
